Nature of Operations Nature of OperationsRanger Oil Corporation (together with its consolidated subsidiaries, unless the context otherwise requires, “Ranger,” “Ranger Oil,” the “Company,” “we,” “us” or “our”) is an independent oil and gas company focused on the onshore development and production of oil, natural gas liquids (“NGLs”) and natural gas. Our current operations consist of drilling unconventional horizontal development wells and operating our producing wells in the Eagle Ford Shale (the “Eagle Ford”) in South Texas. We operate in and report our financial results and disclosures as one segment, which is the development and production of crude oil, NGLs and natural gas.On October 5, 2021, the Company acquired Lonestar Resources US Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Lonestar”), as a result of which Lonestar and its subsidiaries became wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Company (the “Merger”). The Merger was effected pursuant to the Agreement and Plan of Merger (the “Merger Agreement”), dated July 10, 2021, by and between the Company and Lonestar. Following the completion of the Merger, the Company changed its name from Penn Virginia Corporation (“Penn Virginia”) to Ranger Oil Corporation, and its Class A Common Stock (“Class A Common Stock”), par value of $0.01 per share, began trading on The Nasdaq Global Select Market (“Nasdaq”) under the symbol “ROCC” on October 18, 2021.
